The Rapids have made a couple of significant moves late today. First trading forward Luis Solignac to the Chicago Fire for general allocation money, then adding midfielder Sebatien Le Toux from the Union in exchange for general allocation monies.
I’m torn to see Solignac go, but he should definitely see more playing time in Chicago and be a regular in their starting XI. Thanks for everything you did wearing the burgundy and blue Soli and best of luck in Chicago.
The addition of Le Toux in my opinion means Powers is out as the starting CAM for now.
Welcome to Colorado Sebastien!
The moves made by the Rapids today are both positives for the club as they #keepfighting.
The GOOD – The Rapids are now 6-0 at home this season and on a current 6 game unbeaten streak.
Dom Dwyer, M.I.A. The battle between he and Sjoberg all night was a joy to watch.
Serna was the much needed spark off the bench.
The BAD – Sporting KC pressed high, were physical and were all over the Rapids Doyle, Jones, Badji and Solignac. Not leaving any space to get off any real targeted shots or any chance to be creative. This is where Gashi and Pappa were both greatly missed.
The UGLY – The game itself was ugly at times, but the beautiful game can’t always be beautiful every time out. If you believe that every game has to be beautiful, then clearly you’re not a fan of the sport as a whole. Take the good with the bad and learn to appreciate both. Every league on the planet has them.
Rapids currently are on top of the Western Conference with 23 pts and also lead the race for the Supporters Shield. Next up….Rapids @ Columbus Crew, Saturday May 14th
The Rapids grab a much needed road win and 3 points from Sporting.
The GOOD – It’s not just a win, but a road win! What they couldn’t do in Salt Lake last week, they managed to do at Sporting. Solignac scored his second in as many games. Gashi gets his first goal, the game winner. Pappa with another assist. The Rapids played to win and not just hold on for a draw and a point.
The BAD – Poor defending, with a depleted line up due to injuries, etc, players are left playing out of position. Showing itself especially on the Dwyer goal leaving him unmarked in the box from the corner kick.
The UGLY – There wasn’t much ugly about this game
The Rapids are now 3-2-1, 10 points in the Western Conference
The Rapids have made it official today in the signing of Argentine forward Luis Solignac from Nueva Chicago of the Argentine first division. Full story here.
The Rapids continue to add pieces to their roster as they have since the off season, with Kevin Doyle still to come this summer.
I expect we’ll see a little less of Badji and more of Solignac, depending on matchups of course and Pablo’s questionable ability to figure out suitable substitution patterns. Too bad Sarvas is out due to injury, but the team should fair well with Powers and Ramirez. Let’s not start me on LaBrocca.
Welcome Solignac to the Rapids!
