Best of luck to Ryan Madden in his new position as Rapids Director of Communications. Also best of luck to Deshorn Brown in his second stint in MLS. Brown will make his first return to DSGP with DC United against the Rapids August 19th.
If you thought last weekend’s game against the Galaxy was sloppy, then this one made it look like a world class performance. Still a point is better than none.
The GOOD – Pappa makes an impact in his second consecutive game with an assist on the corner kick that was headed into the net by Dillon Powers in the 69th minute.
The BAD – Defensively gave up too many shots to United(19), 15 of those were from open play. Mistake by MacMath in the 80th minute that led to an equalizer goal for United. No Gashi due to a one game suspension, leaving a lack of creativity, support and shots from the midfield offensively. Rapids only had 8 shots for the game, 1 on target.
The UGLY – Sloppy game overall by both clubs. Rapids + National TV = Ugly soccer.
Rapids are 1-1-1 with 4 points after 3 games. 8th place in the Western Conference
Feb 13 – Rapids defeat Sacramento Republic FC 1-0. Rapids win in their first official preseason match against Republic FC on a late goal by A.J. Cochran. Rapids move to 3-0 in the preseason with previous wins over OC Blues FC and Seongnam FC.
On what is deadline day in the footballing world of the winter transfer window, the Rapids seem to have added two pieces to the roster, while losing another. Washington Post Soccer Insider, Steven Goff reports that the Rapids are in the process of trading Marcelo Sarvas to DC United. Sarvas is said to have shown up at United’s training camp this morning.
