One thing can be said this off season of the Rapids. There is no “off” in this off season that’s certain for what the front office is trying to accomplish. It seems almost daily that the Rapids have interest in someone within the soccer world.
Friday it was reported that the Rapids were now showing interest in Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp, here via ESPN.
Also announced over the weekend that Rapids defender Mike da Fonte will go on loan to USL club Phoenix Rising FC.

The Rapids continue shoring up their back line some more and are said to have interest in Danny Wilson of Rangers FC of the Scottish Premier League, story here.

Wilson just 26 years old has made 61 appearances with Rangers since joining them in June 2015. His transfer would appear to be a free transfer for the Rapids as Wilson’s contract with Rangers runs out at the end of May 2018. Wilson, it has been reported has recently had his medical with the Rapids, which means he could join the club sooner than the conclusion of his contract with Rangers FC.
Yesterday the Rapids made the signing official of Tommy Smith from Ipswich Town FC. The move had been rumored for the last couple of weeks with Smith’s playing time having been reduced significantly this season. Colorado Rapids story here. Ipswich Star feature here.
Smith is the 3rd New Zealand international signed this off season by the Rapids along with Kip Colvey and Deklan Wynne. Each reuniting with former New Zealand boss, now Rapids manager Anthony Hudson.
