Rapids show interest in French striker Aldo Kalulu…

From this mornings rumor mill is the Burgundy Boys front office having interest in French striker Aldo Kalulu, story here via Burgundy Wave.

Kalulu is currently on loan to Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux from Lyon.

The interest right now seems to be one sided as Kalulu does not have an interest in moving to MLS.



Rapids add Deklan Wynne from Whitecaps FC…

The team continues to take shape for the 2018 season as the Rapids have announced the addition of New Zealand international Deklan Wynne, defender from Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The Rapids in return exchanged $100,000 in TAM.

Wynne is the second Kiwi to join his former national team manager Anthony Hudson here in Colorado along with Kip Colvey.

Steve Cooke leaves Rapids to manage Energy FC…

Oklahoma Energy FC have announced this morning that Rapids coach Steve Cooke has been named the new manager and technical director of the USL club, story here.

Cooke who was named the Rapids interim manager after the firing of Pablo Mastroeni last season, led the Rapids to a 3-7-2 record. Energy FC finished 6th in the USL western conference (14-11-7), making the playoffs and eventually losing to Swope Park Rangers in the conference finals. Cooke replaces former Energy FC manager Jimmy Nielsen.

Congrats to Steve Cooke and Energy FC.

Rapids draw Toronto FC in CONCACAF Champions League…

Today’s Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions league draw saw the Rapids paired up against 2017 MLS Cup Champions, Toronto FC, story here.

This will be the Rapids 3rd appearance in CONCACAF Champions League, last appearing in the 2011-2012 edition, not advancing past the group stage. The Rapids 2-1-3 record finishing 3rd with 7 points in Group B behind Santos Laguna (13pts) and Isidro Metapan (9pts) and ahead of Real Espana (5pts).

The Rapids first appearance was in the 1998 edition of the then CONCACAF Champions Cup, losing in the qualifying round against Club Leon 4-3 aggregate.

Rapids add forward Jack McBean…

Rapids this afternoon announced the addition of forward, Jack McBean from the LA Galaxy, story here. Not exactly a reason for excitement, but we wont be too quick to judge just yet.

McBean spent the 2017 season making 18 appearances, scoring 2 goals and an assist the Galaxy first team and 7 appearances scoring one goal for Galaxy II in USL. McBean was named to the USL All League First Team in 2016 with 17 appearances (15 starts), 15 goals and 2 assists.

Rapids add defender Kip Colvey from waiver draft…

The Rapids add a defender from today’s waiver draft, Kip Colvey from the San Jose Earthquakes, story here. Colvey only one of two players selected in this years waiver draft will be reunited with his former New Zealand national team manager Anthony Hudson with the Rapids.
