Badji not available for 2nd leg of Rocky Mtn Cup this Saturday…

Badji is on his way to Senegal for finalization of his green card process according to the Rapids website, story here.

Does that mean Yannick Boli will be up top in Badji’s absence or will we see Jack McBean(please no)? Or could the Rapids call up someone from Charlotte or Colorado Springs?

Rapids to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC in a friendly hosted by USL Memphis…

September 1st the Rapids will play a friendly in Tim Howard’s adopted hometown of Memphis against the USL’s Tulsa Roughnecks FC to celebrate the team name and logo launch of the new USL Memphis side, who will begin play in 2019, story here.

This comes at a good time for the Rapids who have a bye that week before heading to Portland to face the Timbers the following week on Sept 8th.

Rapids add Giles Barnes to the roster…

The Rapids yesterday added Giles Barnes in a 6 month deal with a club option for the 2019 season, story here.

Barnes comes over from Liga MX side, Club Leon.

Barnes played in MLS previously with Vancouver, Houston and Orlando before joining Leon.

Welcome to you Giles Barnes.

The Rapids also announced yesterday that defender Kip Colvey was loaned to USL side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, story here.

Rapids waive Joe Mason…

This just in (late night edition). Rapids forward Joe Mason on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers has been waived earlier in the week according to reports. Mason has cleared waivers and will return to Wolverhampton.

Mason scored 3 goals in 14 appearances playing 758 minutes this season for the Rapids.

It’s also rumored the Rapids are close to signing Giles Barnes from Liga MX side, Club Leon.

No official word on Mason yet from the Rapids as he is still listed on the roster on the team website.

Best of luck Joe Mason and thanks for your contributions!

UPDATE: It’s now official, link from Rapids website, here.

Aigner & Rapids part ways…

The Hudson/Aigner saga has finally come to an end and not in the way that most supporters are in agreement with. The Rapids just announced that the club and Stefan Aigner have mutually agreed to terminate the remainder of his contract.

The short of this that this frees up the contract immediately for the club and hopefully frees up some pressure for the locker room without the players having to no longer field questions about the ongoing feud between Hudson and Aigner. This I hope also means there is someone the Rapids have in mind for the summer transfer window to allow the team to move forward on the field and in the table. There’s still a lot of soccer to be played this season and this can be turned around.

Best of luck to Stefan Aigner in the remainder of his career wherever he may land.

Rapids add striker Yannick Boli…

The Rapids have reported today the signing of striker Yannick Boli to a one year deal from Dàlián Yīfāng of the Chinese Super League, story here.

The question now becomes, who will end up wearing the number 94? Hairston currently wears it and has since he’s entered the league and Boli has worn the same number in China and Russia where he has played previously. Somehow I dont think it’s gonna really be an issue, it’s all in fun that I brought it up
